Day 1: Tours and Champagne tasting in Reims region.

Let you be captivated by the unique stained glasses and the exceptionally rich statuary - over 2 300 statues among which the famous Smiling Angel. It is here that King Clovis was baptized around year 498 giving birth to the Kingdom of the Franks and starting a long lasting tradition: except two, all of the Kings of France would be crowned here!
Before lunch, we will do a sightseeing of Reims. Reims being the largest city of Champagne, many world famous Champagne brands are based in the city. During the sightseeing, you will pass by Champagne houses like Grandes Maisons de Champagne: Veuve Cliquot, Taittinger, Pommery, Mumm, Roederer...
Not to be misted the great architecture of the city with Reims city hall, Maison des Musiciens, Gallo Romain site and fun buildings of the 1920's glorious Champagne days.

Early afternoon, tour and tasting at Ruinart.
Ruinart Crayeres (cellars) are quite impressive. Your guide will present you the history of the company along the visit of the cellars. Carved in the lime stone, some rooms can easily welcome a church.
The "Crayeres are so large that some parts of the caves where use in WW2 to hid precious Reims art pieces.
Tour of the exquisite village of Hautvillers, overlooking Epernay and all the vineyards. You will see the grave of the Monk Dom Perignon in the village church. We'll walk to the edge of the hill and enjoy the view on the whole Marne Valley and all the vineyards owned by the most famous Champagne producers around Epernay.

Drive through Epernay, the Capital of Champagne and scenic tour on the
Scenic Route du Champagnes. It meanders among the vineyards and picturesque villages, offering a charming bucolic landscape. We take you to the Cote des Blancs for a sightseeing of some of the most famous Grandes Maisons de Champagne such as: Bollinger, Gosset, Deutz, etc. En route the countryside is enameled with beautiful Grand Cru villages like Ay, Hautvillers, Bouzy, Le Mesnil, Vernezay, etc...

The 1959 Cuvee won the first place in the Champagne of the Millennium 1999, out of 150 of the finest 20th century champagnes.
